Coweta County, Georgia
Chair of the Coweta County Republican Party. National Committeewoman for the Young Republicans National Federation. Georgia Young Republican of the Year, 2021. Building conservatism from the ground up since 2012.
About
Nina Blackwelder has been building the conservative movement in Coweta County for over a decade — from precincts to state committee to the national stage. She got involved in the Ron Paul Revolution in 2012 and has never stopped showing up.
She founded the South Metro Young Republicans, served as Political Director of the Georgia Young Republicans from 2020–2022, and was named Georgia Young Republican of the Year in 2021. She went on to chair the Georgia Young Republicans in 2024, then stepped into her current roles: National Committeewoman for the Young Republicans National Federation and Chair of the Coweta County Republican Party.
She sits on the board of Bridging the Gap in Newnan and serves as Vice President of the Newnan Kiwanis Club. She is a Georgia State Committee Member of the Republican Party. Her two children both graduated from Northgate High School.
Political Leadership
Elected Chair of the Coweta County Republican Party in August 2025 — a county where ~70% of voters go Republican. Her mandate: invest in people at every level, return focus to all eight municipalities, and build a bench that can win races the party hasn't even thought to run yet. See her full record on Ballotpedia.
"I place my hope in incoming Chair Nina Blackwelder, who has pledged to focus on local issues, grassroots organizing and transparency."
— Newnan Times-Herald Opinion, September 2025
Nina was unanimously elected chair on August 28, 2025 — as covered by The Citizen and the Newnan Times-Herald. State Rep. Bonner called her "a wonderful person, very active in Republican politics, very well liked, very smart, great personality, very engaging — exactly the kind of person needed in that position," as reported by The Citizen in September 2025.
Her model isn't theoretical — it's the same one she's used to grow organizations for over a decade. Decentralize decision-making. Return attention to all eight of Coweta's municipalities, not just Newnan. Bring back Republicans who felt left out. Build the kind of bench that doesn't have to scramble at filing time.
